X-Ray Aprons
PRESTIGE is our newest innovation. It is even lighter than Starlite and is lead-free. Prestige is also available in an ‘Ultra’ version which is .35mm protection that attenuates 97% at 100 KVP. ‘Ultra’ is nominally 30% lighter than .50mm.
STARLITE it contains no lead yet provides the same attenuation properties as Cost Cruncher and True Lite. Starlite is 12% lighter than True Lite. Starlite
is the protection you want when working long procedures, since most
.50mm equivalent Starlite front protection aprons weigh approximately 10
lbs or less – that’s a big weight off your shoulders! Like our other protective products, Starlite is available in the ‘Ultra’
version making the apron even lighter – imagine a front protection
apron that weighs approximately 7 pounds and still gets an attenuation
rating of 97% at 100 KVP.
TRUE LITE was our introduction to lightweight lead protection. True Lite is 10% lighter than Cost Cruncher and offers the same attenuation properties. Bar-Ray introduced True Lite over 10 years ago and it is still the leader in lightweight lead protection. True Lite is also available in the ‘Ultra’ version of .35mm protection which makes an approximately 30% lighter apron while still providing 97% attenuation at 100 KVP.
COST CRUNCHER is our traditional weight lead protective material. It provides .50mm protection and attenuates 100% at 100 KVP. It is the most economical choice for the technician that does not need to wear the apron for long periods of time. Cost Cruncher is also available in an ‘Ultra’ version which is .35mm protection that attenuates 97% at 100 KVP. ‘Ultra’ is nominally 30% lighter than .50mm.
The NCRP has established maximal permissable doses for persons who
receive occupational exposure. The NRC has suggested that occupational
exposure be as low as reasonably achievable. Three principles of radiation protection are: Increase distance from the source, Reduce exposure time and wear shielding and protective products.
